2014 Nissan GT-R Gentleman Edition

"Gentleman Edition" might be a weird name to call a special-edition model, let alone one with the unbridled fury of a 2014 Nissan GT-R, but that’s what Nissan is calling it.

The GT-R Gentleman Edition.

Odd name choice notwithstanding, the GT-R Gentleman Edition is very limited, as only 10 of these babies will be made. No more. No less.

It’ll only be sold in France, which is a bummer, but for those lucky enough to get one, you get the treat of a limited run GT-R that that’s slotted just above the Black Edition, of which its equipment is based on.

As for the car itself, the GT-R Gentleman Edition only comes in an equally limited Grey Squale finish to go with an amber red leather interior. The latter, in particular, also boasts of hand-sewn seats, as well as more leather coverings on the gear shifter knob, lever gaiter, handbrake, door panels, and table passenger-side edge.

More than just a fancily dressed GT-R, the Gentleman Edition also comes with some special add-ons, including: a special bag, glasses case and covering pockets that are stitched in leather.

Finally, specific identification titanium can be found on the front fender while a numbered customizable titanium placard is displayed on the dashboard just to show everyone that this car is only 1 of the 10 Gentleman Edition GT-R models Nissan is building.

2013 Will Be Biggest Year Yet For Nissan's GT Academy

The GT Academy essentially pits gamers playing Sony’s Gran Turismo in a knockout competition, with the final winner in each of the tournaments eventually placed behind the wheel of a real race car and entered in international motorsport events.

In fact, the first GT Academy winner Lucas Ordoñez together with 2011 winner Jann Mardenborough will be competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year.

If you’re thinking the gamers don’t have any real driving talent, think again. Recently, four winning drivers from 2012’s GT Academy were excluded from competing in the 2013 British GT Championship’s Pro-Am category, which teams pro drivers with inexperienced racers, because they were too fast!

For this year’s GT Academy, more countries than ever will be participating. In addition, the online gaming element of the competition will use a demo version of the upcoming Gran Turismo 6 game that was announced for Sony’s PlayStation 3 only this week.

Since its inception in 2008, Nissan’s GT Academy has attracted over two million entries and seen six winners crowned. In 2013, tournaments will be held in the U.S., Europe Germany, Russia, the Middle East and South Africa.

The winners of each of the tournaments will be put through an incredibly intensive and thorough driver development program in order to qualify for the ultimate competition prize--a full season racing a Nissan GT-R GT3 Nismo in GT competition.

The beauty of the GT Academy is that it is a highly accessible route into professional motor racing for people who would otherwise not have the means nor the opportunity.

Nissan 370Z NISMO Heading To 2013 Gumball 3000

With vehicles like the Rebellion R2K street-legal race car and a custom-built Tumbler, insane rides will not be in short supply. But we can add another car to the list, as a new 2014 Nissan 370Z NISMO will be participating as well.

Piloted by a joint team from the French publishing house L'Ecurie and Intersection Magazine, the 2014 Nissan 370Z NISMO will be car 56 in this cross-country road rally. The number 56 is significant because it is the garage that Nissan occupied during the Le Mans 24 Hour race in 2012.
Driven by Gumball 3000 regulars Patrice Meignan and Jeremy 'Jey' Taltaud, the 370Z NISMO features camouflage livery that has been designed specifically for the event.

Powered by a 350-horsepower 3.7-liter V-6 VQ engine, the 2014 370Z NISMO is sure to make these drivers smile with its six-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive dynamics. Inside the cabin there's a new steering wheel for 2014 along with Alcantara accents.

The Gumball 3000 road rally is a seven-day, 3,000-mile event that goes through 13 countries across Europe. The event was created in 1999 and was named after the 1976 film starring Michael Sarrazin.

The rally will begin on May 18th and will run until May 25th.

Usain Bolt Golden Again with Unique Nissan GT-R

Bolt, known as "the world's fastest man," has been promoting the company's brand awareness in association with the Nissan Global Brand Campaign, which kicked off in April 2012 and has been running in markets around the world ever since.

It was love at first sight for Bolt, already a GT-R owner, when the one-of-a-kind "Bolt Gold" GT-R was unveiled as the top prize in an online global charity auction held in late 2012. The proceeds of the auction went to the Usain Bolt Foundation.

The special Gold GT-R that Nissan presented to Bolt is based on the 2014 model year Nissan GT-R. It has been customized to suit Bolt's driving style, based on the data Nissan engineers recorded during his test drive of the GT-R line-up when he visited the company headquarters in October 2012.
The uniquely gold-painted Nissan GT-R features a flamboyant white interior, BOSE® audio system and 10-spoke RAYS® aluminum-alloy forged wheels. These specially fitted, hyper-titanium color-coated wheels add extra flair to an already bold exterior that is highlighted by an exclusive "Spec Bolt" emblem. The visual specs of the car, including exterior color, interior color and wheels, were selected by Bolt himself.

The handover event took place on May 5, 2013, at Bolt's home training facility in Jamaica that overlooks the mountains of his home country. Jose Román, vice president of Nissan Latin America and the Caribbean, who attended on behalf of Nissan, handed over the keys to the Gold GT-R to Bolt. Bolt then become the owner of one of only two Gold GT-Rs in existence, the other belonging to the charity auction winner who will take delivery of his special car before the summer of 2013.
