Nissan Frontier King Cab Named To Insure.Com’s Annual “Least Expensive To Insure” List

Wcn
It’s a good thing that the Nissan Frontier pickup has a roomy cargo bed – the popular compact truck just keeps bringing home industry and media awards. The latest recognition comes from Insure.com, which has named the 2012 Nissan Frontier S King Cab and Frontier SV King Cab models to its list of “Least Expensive Vehicles to Insure.” The annual survey of more than 900 vehicles aims to help consumers in the market for a new vehicle identify the best vehicles to help keep their insurance payments low.

“We’ve had a lot of fun in our recent advertising showing the Nissan Frontier in extreme fantasy situations, such as skiing down mountains or serving as emergency landing gear for a jet airplane, but the truth is, Frontier is a great purchase option for many practical reasons,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America. “Insurance can be a significant part of the total cost of ownership for a new vehicle and we are pleased to see the Frontier included in this year’s Insure.com ranking, which validates Frontier’s outstanding value equation.”

The Nissan Frontier continues to be a leader in the mid-size truck segment. Offering performance, utility and value, the Nissan Frontier combines premium hardware, extraordinary power and off-road athleticism. With a choice of two body configurations, 4x2 and 4x4 drive, 152-horsepower 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder (King Cab only) or class-leading 261-horsepower 4.0-liter V6 engines, and good fuel mileage (19 city, 23 highway, King Cab 4-cyinder 2WD), Frontier offers exceptional levels of family or workplace performance to fit nearly any need or budget.

“Our annual rankings provide consumers with a view of the best insurance deals of the year. If you want to save money on your insurance bill and you’re in the market for a pickup truck, the Nissan Frontier is an excellent choice,” said Amy Danise, editorial director of Insure.com.

The Insure.com nod follows three other recent awards for Frontier. It was named first in the Midsize Pickup Truck category in the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) 2011 Texas Truck Rodeo, and to Kelley Blue Book’s “Best Resale Value Award: Top Ten Models” for model year 2012. In addition, J.D. Power and Associates named Frontier as the top midsize pickup in its 2012 Vehicle Dependability Study.

NISSAN AND FEDEX EXPRESS JOIN FORCES DELIVERING FUNDING SUPPORT TO THE BRITISH RED CROSS IN A ZERO EMISSION VEHICLE

Wcn
Nissan and FedEx collaborate once again in London demonstrating the companies' joint commitment to environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility. A FedEx Express courier drove the Nissan battery powered zero emission e-NV200 prototype van to British Red Cross's Headquarters in London delivering donations from Nissan employees and a corporate philanthropic donation from FedEx Express. The memorable journey marked the end of a successful first UK trial of the all-electric e-NV200 prototype and celebrated the final days of a trial period for zero emission deliveries by FedEx Express using Nissan's 100% electric prototype van.

Many employees from the Cranfield-based Nissan Technical Centre Europe (NTCE) who provided technical support for the e-NV200 prototype trial have participated in an annual fund-raising activity for the British Red Cross Disaster Fund. These Nissan team members requested that the donation be delivered in a unique and memorable manner using the zero-emission vehicle. In a sign of firm solidarity and responsible corporate citizenship, FedEx Express matched the Nissan employees' donation and delivered both donations to the British Red Cross using the Nissan e-NV200 prototype it had test driven in London.

"Today we are proudly handing over a collection of donations amassed by our employees in support of the British Red Cross. We are delighted our donation has been matched by FedEx Express, our partners in this trial," remarked Graeme Burn, Senior Engineer NTCE Powertrain Development, "Collaboration with FedEx Express on environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility fronts demonstrates the positive impact of cross sector collaboration. Our work with them on the vehicle trial has been engaging, robust and forward thinking. I would also like thank our employees for their generosity and continuous support of our company's corporate citizenship values."

"At FedEx Express, we have a longstanding tradition and commitment to disaster relief and environmental sustainability. Around the world, we provide in-kind transportation and philanthropic donations supporting humanitarian efforts to communities that need it most," said William Martin, Managing Director of Ground Operations UK, FedEx Express EMEA, "we are delighted we could strengthen our collaboration with Nissan over this two month period on the electric vehicle front and co-donate to the deserving and notable Disaster Fund of the British Red Cross."

Kimberley Bannister, Corporate Partnerships Assistant at the British Red Cross accepted the donations from Graeme Burn, Senior Engineer from Nissan Technical Centre Europe, and William Martin, Managing Director for Operations UK Ground Operations, FedEx Express. Kimberley praised the efforts of all involved as she explained where the money was headed, "The joint donations will be allotted to our Disaster Fund: it's a critical pot of money that the British Red Cross uses to respond in an emergency across the world within hours and we are thankful for the contributions FedEx Express and Nissan have offered us."

Nissan Hosts Hundreds of Auto Bloggers at Chicago Auto Show for Launch of "Project 370Z”

Wcn
As social media continues to grow in influence in the automotive industry, Nissan is connecting with that powerful force to help create an ultimate street/track 370Z, called “Project 370Z.” Launched at a special blogger media day at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show, Nissan enthusiasts are invited to vote on modifications and follow the construction online through Facebook.com/nissanperformance. The finished vehicle will be revealed May 17 at the annual ZDayZ gathering in North Carolina.

“Think of Project 370Z as a factory project car built in a non-factory way,” explained Erich Marx, director, Social Media & Interactive Marketing, Nissan North America. “Nissan Z® owners are among the most active of all on social media. We can’t wait to see how the finished vehicle turns out.”

At the show’s social media day, in the second year it has been held, Nissan also hosted a Google+ Hangout, and made sure the bloggers were introduced to culinary delights provided by a Southern Mac & Cheese Nissan NV food truck. Guests were also treated to Nissan’s new “virtual new car experience” using Microsoft Kinect technology.

2013 Nissan 370Z Previewed at Chicago Auto Show – New Front Fascia and New Wheels Lead Enhancements

Wcn
If it’s February in Chicago, it’s time for one thing – sports cars. Bringing a taste of hot performance to the Windy City winter, Nissan today debuted the revised 2013 Nissan 370Z on the floor of the 2012 Chicago Auto Show. The new Z®, which is scheduled to go on sale at Nissan dealers nationwide next June, features a number of enhancements designed to keep the legendary sports car fresh and exciting. For 2013, the Nissan 370Z will once again be available in Coupe, Roadster and NISMO Z configurations.

The updates for the new model year include:

  • Refreshed front fascia with vertical LED daytime running lights
  • Red reflector added to rear fascia (replaces previous black center cover)
  • Revised 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels (Sport Package equipped models)
  • New 18-inch wheels for 370Z Coupe
  • Red-finished brake calipers (Sport Package equipped models)
  • Dark-finish fuel gauge trim
  • Euro-tuned shock absorbers (Sport Package equipped models)
  • And two new exterior colors – Magma Red and Midnight Blue

The NISMO 370Z also adds a new Bose® Premium Audio Package with two additional speakers and two subwoofers, premium gun metallic dark-finish 19-inch wheels, and Nissan GT-R style high-rigidity brake hoses and performance brake fluid. The NISMO 370Z does not adopt the new front fascia/rear reflector, Euro-tuned shocks or Midnight Blue exterior color.

“Since the original 1970 Z® was first introduced our goal has always been to keep the design moving forward. The changes for 2013, though subtle, go a long way in enhancing its dynamic appearance inside and out,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc.

As in 2012, the 2013 370Z Coupe and 370Z Coupe Touring will each be available with a standard 332-horsepower 3.7-liter DOHC V6 engine and choice of 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed automatic transmission. The 2013 370Z Roadster and 370Z Roadster Touring will be offered with the same engine but with the 6-speed manual offered only with the Touring model (the 7-speed automatic transmission is available with both).

The Nissan NISMO 370Z, a tuner-Z® enthusiast’s dream, will once again cap off the lineup – offering racing-inspired exterior and interior styling, a specially tuned suspension and unique super-lightweight forged alloy wheels. Its 3.7-liter DOHC V6 engine is matched with an exclusive H-configured exhaust system design, muffler tuning and optimized ECM (Engine Computer Module) control – creating 350 horsepower and 276 lb-ft of torque. Only one transmission is available, a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission with standard SynchroRev Match®, which allows rev-matched heel-toe-like downshifting.

Additional details on the 2013 Nissan 370Z will be available closer to the June on-sale date.
